Historical Hockey and Sports Memorabilia Auction September 2023

A rough and tumble player throughout his 442 game NHL career, Nick Kypreos would reach the proverbial hockey mountain tops of the AHL and NHL in 1988 as a member of the Hershey Bears and in 1994 with the New York Rangers via both Calder Cup and Stanley Cup championships. Offered here, is this Toronto Maple Leafs “1931 Heritage” jersey worn by Kypreos during the Leafs November 2nd, 1996 contest versus the Detroit Red Wings. Made by CCM, both size “56” and “Made in Canada” tags are affixed to the inner collar while the CCM logo and NHL shield have been embroidered into the reverse hem. Having been decorated over the front of the jersey with a 1931 style Maple Leafs team crest that has “Toronto Maple Leafs” embroidered into it, Kypreos’ number “32” is sewn to the verso in oversized single layer white twill numerals with no nameplate over the upper reverse to make note of. Done as a heritage jersey throwback for the 65th anniversary of Maple Leaf Gardens, the jersey, based off the ones the Leafs wore during the first season of play at “The Grand Ole’ Lady on Carlton Street” in 1931, shows good game-wear via stick marks throughout the front and sleeves with a couple on the reverse as well while board burns are observed over both sleeves as well along with a fray though the “E” in “Maple” of the team crest and light pilling on the interior. Showcasing a team patch sewn inside the reverse hem that denotes the jersey as a “1 of 2 1996-1997 Game Worn Heritage Jersey” offering (the second set was worn February 22nd, 1997 vs Montreal), an LOA from Byron’s HockeyLand will accompany the piece.
