Historical Hockey and Sports Memorabilia Auction June 2023
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 6/27/2023
One of the rarities within nodder/bobbing head collecting, we offer a scarce early-1970s 12" New York Rangers bank. The only nodder hockey bank produced during the era along with the New York Islanders example presumed to exist, Tim Hunter mentions the existence of the Isles bank in his Bobbing Head Dolls guide, while an online article by Joe Marasco also refers to the bank, and shows a souvenir concessions ad from a 1973 Islanders program that lists an Islanders bobbing doll. As such, the Rangers bank is assumed to originate from the same time period, circa 1972-73. 12" in height with "Rangers" screened in white across the circular blue base, the colours remain bright, with no damage present whatsoever. the only flaw is the fact that the underside rubber stopper has been pushed into the bank (this is removable). There is also a manufactures decal over the underside base. This lot and many others in this auction hail from an advanced NHL and CFL nodder/bobbing head collection.
Addendum: Upon closer inspection, a section of the back of the head has been repaired, with this noticeable with the use of a blacklight.
