Signing a B-form contract with the Montreal Canadiens in the late-1940s, effectively forcing participation with Montreal should he ever turn pro, Jean Beliveau showed no interest in the NHL, and was content to play as an amateur in the QSHL. Frank Selke devised a plan to garner the lanky star, convincing Canadiens owner - the Canadian Arena Company, to buy the QSHL and turn it into a semi-pro league, thus forcing Beliveau to join the Habs. The plan worked, and the rest as they say, is history. This highly sought rookie card of Le Gros Bill has been just recently graded VG-EX 4 by PSA. This is the most desirable and valuable card in the entire set.
