Ranking first in medals all-time at the IIHF World Hockey Championships dating back to the inaugural event in 1920 before it became a standalone competition, Canada has won 27 World Championship gold medals, as well as 16 silver’s and 9 bronze’s throughout their history of participating in the event. Offered here, is this IIHF World Championship game puck collection that dates from 1977 at its earliest to 1992 at its latest and comes to us from a former Team Canada staff member. Including examples from 1977 (Vienna, Austria), 1978 (x 2 – Prague, Czechoslovakia), 1982 (x2 – Helsinki and Tampere, Finland), 1983 (Munich, Dortmund and Düsseldorf, West Germany), 1985 (Prague, Czechoslovakia), 1986 (Moscow, Soviet Union), 1989 (x2 – one gold and one silver print - Södertälje and Stockholm, Sweden), 1990 (Bern and Fribourg, Switzerland), 1991 (Turku, Helsinki and Tampere, Finland) and 1992 (Prague and Bratislava, Czechoslovakia). All in overall good condition with no major wear to the logos or pucks themselves, all show handling wear and age with the two 1978 examples having some paint splatter spots and the rest showing some light surface wear. Additional pucks are present include those for the 1984 Canada Cup (game puck), Canadian National Team (x3 – game and souvenir pucks), IIHF (practice puck) and 1992-93 Stanley Cup Centennial season (game puck). Once again, all remain in good condition with light handling and surface wear. Also included is a suitcase used by the staff member. Made by Adidas with the brand’s wordmark and trefoil logo over both sides in white, the leather case measures approx. 18 ½” x 14” x 5” and remains in excellent condition inside and out while retaining full functionality of its snaps, zipper and handles, the inside remains clean with only a couple spots of dried white paint . Decorated over both sides with the stickers from various NHL and European teams, brands and events, two Air Canada tags are still hanging from the handles.
