Historical Hockey and Sports Memorabilia Auction June 2023
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 6/27/2023
A popular form of Inuit art and a fixture at Canada Cup hockey tournaments, up for grabs here is this Inuit soapstone carving that was issued as a “player of the game” award at the 1981 Canada Cup and was originally acquired from a member from Team Canada’s staff. Standing at 10” tall and 5” wide, the piece, appearing to depict a two-headed animal weighs in at 18 pounds and is signed by the artist on the base with a date of 1979. Displaying a plaque that reads “Coupe Canada Cup” over the front, the piece remains in excellent condition with no major flaws and no cracks, showing just some light handling and surface wear found via some surface abrasions. A fantastic memento of international hockey days gone by, don’t miss out!
