Selected 220th overall by the Buffalo Sabres at the 2000 NHL Entry Draft, Paul Gaustad would go on to a National Hockey League career that saw him take the ice in 727 contests split between the Sabres and Nashville Predators. Affectionally known by his nickname “goose”, up for grabs here is this Sabres jersey worn by Gaustad during the 2008-09 season. A Reebok made garment with a single size “56” tag affixed to the inner collar, emblems of the NHL shield and Reebok grace the front and reverse necklines respectively. Decorated over the front with an infamous Sabres “Buffaslug” team crest in layered tackle twill with both textured and embroidered details, matching alternate logo crests reside over each shoulder. The chest, sleeves and verso have all had Gaustad’s number “28” sewn to them in dual layer tackle twill numerals while “Gaustad” has been spelt out in single layer navy tackle twill letters across the affixed matching nameplate. Exhibiting good game-wear, stick marks, board burns, and board paint transfer spots are seen over both sleeves while stick marks also decorate the lower front and reverse as well. Additional wear is seen via unrepaired holes near the lower reverse hem, right elbow and the back of the left shoulder along with pilling on the interior and a collar that seems to have been ripped and partially repaired. A Sabres team tag denoting the jersey as a 2008-09 official game jersey that is serial numbered “9756” is sewn inside the reverse hem and is accompanied by a matching COA from the Sabres. Additionally, the jersey is photo-matched with Getty Image #85160637 (February 28th, 2009 vs New York) to the deep board burn on the back of the left shoulder and dark stick mark near the lower front hem.
