Historical Hockey and Sports Memorabilia Auction Spring 2023
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 5/2/2023
Widely considered as one of the greatest hockey games ever played, the 1975 New Year’s Eve tilt in Montreal between the Habs and the Soviet Red Army saw a dominant Canadiens team humbled by an unbelievable goaltending performance from a young 23-year-old Russian named Vladislav Tretiak as the Canadiens outshot the Soviets by a 38-13 count. Played to a final score of 3-3, up for grabs here is this full unused ticket from the historical contest. Measuring 5 ½” x 3”, the ticket displays both the Canadiens and USSR hammer and sickle logos and names along with the date, time, arena name, seat information as well as the original price of $13.63 plus $1.37 in taxes for a total of $15.00 ($83.06 in 2023!). Sporting a bold Molson advertisement on the reverse and exhibiting a number of creases throughout with some edge and corner wear observed as well, the colours remain beautifully bold and bright helping contribute even more to the desirability that this seldom seen piece of hockey history has going for it!
