Historical Hockey and Sports Memorabilia Auction Spring 2023
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 5/2/2023
Both the first Caribbean and the first Latin-American player to be enshrined in the Baseball Hall of Fame in 1973 after his tragic death on New Year’s Eve 1972, Roberto Clemente would finish his 18-year Major League career with exactly 3000 hits, the last of which came in his final career at-bat of the 1972 season. Up for grabs here, is this pair of early career Clemente offerings in the form of both his 1956 and 1960 Topps cards with both having been graded by PSA. Each deemed worthy of VG-EX 4 designations, both cards display excellent colours and imagery of the Latin-American star while it should be pointed out that the 1956 specimen is the white back variation. Both showing with corner wear that is commonly seen on mid-grade cards of the era, the 1960 card is off-center on both the front and back. Both housed in PSA holders that remain in excellent condition with just light scratches/scuffs worth noting, don’t miss your chance to add this esteemed pairing to your vintage collection.
