Labeled as the “Ice Kings” on the reverse of every card, World Wide Gum’s 1933-34 V357 set rings true to its claim as 22 of the players depicted in the 72-card checklist would go on to be inducted into the Hockey Hall of Fame after the conclusions of their careers. Up for grabs here and a seldom seen offering, is this complete set of the 1933-34 World Wide Gum Ice Kings V357 release. Consisting of 72 total cards as previously stated above, the assembly is paced by a collection of sixteen (16) cards that have been freshly graded and received back from PSA including those of HOFers Babe Seibert (RC – EX 5), King Clancy (VG-EX 4), Howie Morenz (VG+ 3.5) and Joe Primeau (RC – VG-EX+ 4.5.) as well as the cards of HOFers Tiny Thompson (RC – VG-EX 4), Ace Bailey (RC – VG-EX 4), Hooley Smith (VG-EX 4), Bill Cook (VG-EX 4), Marty Barry (RC - VG-EX 4), Dit Clapper (RC - VG-EX 4), Cooney Weiland (RC- VG-EX 4), Bun Cook (RC – VG+ 3.5), Roy Worters (RC – VG 3), Sid Howe (RC – VG 3 – English Only), Aurele Joliat (VG 3) and Nelson Stewart (RC – GOOD 2). Of note, only two other cards join the Howe as having an English only back, those of #58 (Sands) and #70 (Roche) while there is also an extra copy of card #7 that pictures Ronnie Martin. For the remaining cards, all existing in raw and ungraded form, card #70 of Desse Roche (RC) is found to be in the best condition, in the range of EX for his example while the cards seen as being in the scope of VG-EX include #’s 7-Martin (RC), 18-Raymond (RC), 23-Oliver (RC - HOFer), 28-Larochelle (RC), 38-McVeigh (RC), 39-Brydson (RC), 41-Lamb (RC), 42-Mantha (HOF), 44-Himes (RC), 46-Lepine (RC), 48-Northcott (RC) and 58-Sands (RC). Cards seen as being in the grade range of VG make up the biggest group out of all the raw offerings with the #’s 6-Haynes (RC), 9-Wilcox (RC), 14-Burke (RC), 16-Horner (RC – HOFer), 17-Mondou (RC), 20-Keeling (RC), 21-Gagnon (RC), 24-Carson (RC), 25-Dutton (RC -HOFer), 26-Mantha (RC), 29-Beattie (RC), 32-Chapman (RC), 33-Cotton (RC), 34-Hitchman, 37-Ward (RC), 43-Wentworth (RC), 47-Levinksy (RC), 52-Duguid (RC), 55-Emms (RC), 59-Aurie (RC), 60-Beveridge (RC), 61-MacKenzie (RC), 63-Gracie (RC), 64-Kilrea (RC), 67-Roach and 69-Cox (RC)all falling into this category. Rounding out the set, cards in the condition proximity of GOOD include the likes of 2-Brydge (RC), 4-Blair, 5-Robinson (RC), 7-Martin (RC), 10-Day (HOF), 15-Dillon (RC), 19-Kerr (RC), 35-Patterson (RC), 45-Brennan (RC), 49-Doraty (RC), 50-Thoms (RC), 51-Ayers (RC), 53-Kilrea (RC), 56-Dutkowski (RC), 62-Roche (RC), 68-Murdoch (RC) and 71-Chabot (RC) while card #54 of Vic Ripley (RC), is the only one seen as being in the vicinity of PR.
