Historical Hockey and Sports Memorabilia Auction Spring 2023

Displaying extremely high eye appeal and a treat to handle and behold, this copy of Mario Lemieux’s all-important 1985-86 O-Pee-Chee rookie card first saw the light of day after being pulled from a 7-card pack that cost 35 cents during the budding superstar’s second big league campaign and must have been put away till it was sent away for grading at PSA where it earned the high-grade mark of a near perfect MINT 9. Mario’s 141 points were second only to Wayne Gretzky and to say that Lemieux impressed his peers is an understatement; NHL players voted and Mario was awarded the Lester B. Pearson Trophy as the most outstanding skater in the league. Attributes of MINT 9 card are very much on display here as the card shows with bright vivid colors that pop, precise centering, smooth edges, sharp corners and an immaculate-looking surface all striking the beholder though it should be noted that we do spy with our little eye very light wear to the right side points on the front and left side points on the reverse. Housed comfortably and safely in a PSA holder, only a small number of very light scratches over each side of the holder are worth noting. An excellent example, this copy of Super Mario’s RC is sure to enhance your vintage portfolio should you be the lucky winning bidder!
