Historical Hockey and Sports Memorabilia Auction Spring 2023
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 5/2/2023
The first overall pick in the 1987 NHL Entry Draft by the Buffalo Sabres, Pierre Turgeon would go on to a National Hockey League career that saw him play 1294 games and register better than point-per-game numbers with 1327 over that time. Found as card #194 in the 1988-89 O-Pee-Chee hockey release, up for grabs here is this copy of Turgeon’s all-important first-year cardboard that has earned the esteemed perfect mark of GEM MT 10 from the graders at PSA after inspection. Sitting tied for being in the top 5 most important cards in the 264-card checklist according to the hobby's most-consulted price guide, the PSA population report tells the tale of this particular copy being 1 out of only 78 to ever receive the perfect designation from the company out of the 1054 ever examined by them since their inception. Housed comfortably in a PSA holder that remains in good condition, only a few light scratches/scuffs are present over both sides.
