Historical Hockey and Sports Memorabilia Auction Spring 2023
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 5/2/2023
The landmark set that ushered in the modern era of hockey cards, Parkhurst issued it's first set in 1951-52, with a number of the rookie cards the most sought in the hobby. This group includes all Toronto Maple Leafs, with five cards, including four that are graded. First, there are three cards graded by PSA, with HOFer Harry Watson (GOOD 2), Gus Mortson (GOOD 2) and Joe Klukay (Authentic), followed by Bill Barilko/Gerry McNeil In Action (the famous Barilko goal, graded FAIR 1.5 by ACA). The final card is a second Joe Klukay card, and it is fairly well centered with rounded corners and residue on the reverse. All four graded cards are slightly off-center left-to-right, with wear commensurate with each grade.
It must be noted that the grading standards followed by KSA may not correspond to those currently employed by PSA, BGS or SGC. The outcome of an attempted cross-over of this piece through any of those services, then, would be uncertain and cannot be guaranteed.
