Part of the core group responsible with leading the New York Islanders to four straight Stanley Cup championships between 1980 and 1983, offered here is this collection of 265+ hockey cards of Islanders legends Bryan Trottier, Mike Bossy and Denis Potvin that includes multiple rookie cards of each player. Coming in at approx. 269 total cards with some duplicates present, the breakdown of amount by player includes around 90 cards of Trottier, 109 of Bossy and 70 of Potvin. Starting with Trottier’s notable offerings, four (4) copies of his 1976-77 rookie card are included with the collection with three (3) being from the O-Pee-Chee and one (1) hailing from Topps’ release. For the OPC’s, one is seen in the range of VG to VG-EX with a right border ding, an ink link mark and some foxing while the other two both display in the scope of EX to EX-MT with one having slight wear to the bottom right corner. The Topps example is seen to be close to VG to VG-EX due to some surface bumps/issues but overall has the best colour and borders. Additionally, four (4) copies of his 1976-77 rookie record breakers card from OPC’s release are also included with one around EX to EX-MT with 70-30 centering, two (2) in the range of VG to VG-EX with corner wear and the last one in the vicinity of EX with a top right corner ding.
Next, we look at Mike Bossy who’s section is highlighted by one (1) copy each of his OPC and Topps rookie card from 1978-79. The Topps example shows in the scope of EX-MT condition with just a tiny bottom right corner ding while the OPC is closer to VG range with a stain on the front. Additionally, five (5) copies of Bossy’s 1979-80 OPC second year card are present with two (2) hovering in the EX condition range and the other three (3) all close to EX-MT proximity after inspection.
Last but certainly not least, cardboard displaying the image of Denis Potvin rounds out the collection, with four (4) copies of his 1974-75 OPC first year card included, the best being an EX range example the 95-5 centering. The other three include two (2) in the vicinity of VG with one of them showing a small crease and the other corner wear while the last of the bunch displays in the scope of VG to VG-EX with light corner wear. Two (2) copies of Potvin’s 2nd year card from Topps’ 1975-76 set round out the notables, with one found in the proximity of EX-MT and the other in the range of EX to EX-MT.
