Suiting up for his native Czech Republic numerous times throughout his career, Petr Sykora competed for the Stanley Cup an impressive six (6) times, lifting Lord Stanley’s mug with New Jersey in 2000 and with Pittsburgh in 2009. Offered here and hailing from that Cup winning campaign of 2008-09, is this Penguins alternate captain’s jersey worn by Sykora. Made by Reebok with a size “56” tag affixed to the inner collar, crests for the NHL and Reebok adorn the front and back necklines respectively. Decorated over the front with the well-known Penguins crest with embroidered details that saw use from 2002 to 2016, the distinguished alternate captain’s “A” resides proudly over the left breast. Sykora’s number “17” has been added to the sleeves and verso in tri-layer black-over-white-over-gold numerals with “Sykora” spelt out across the affixed matching nameplate in mirroring style. Exhibiting moderate game-wear, stick marks and board burns are observed over both sleeves/shoulders with a stick mark also running through the team crest. Pilling is present over the length of the left sleeve with both sleeves showing sweat staining. Additionally, the jersey has been photo-matched with Getty Image #84652253 (February 4th, 2009 vs Tampa Bay) to the stick mark through the team crest. A Penguins team tag denoting the jersey as a “2008-2009 Set #2 Game Jersey” has been sewn inside the rear hem and is accompanied by a matching Penguins COA with head equipment manager, Dana Heinze, having signed the underside of the fight strap in black ink.
