Owning claim to an NHL career that spanned 377 games with additional time spent playing top level hockey in Switzerland, Russia and his native Sweden, offered here is this New York Islanders jersey worn by Andreas Johansson during the 1996-97 season. Made by CCM, a single size “54” tag is affixed to the interior collar while the logos of CCM and the NHL have been embroidered into the reverse hem. Decorated over the front with the infamous Islanders “Fisherman” crest that lasted only two seasons and matching light house alternate logo patches over both shoulders, the glue outline of a larger front logo that once graced the jersey is seen around the edge of the smaller one that the team put in its place while the organization’s 25th anniversary patch resides over the right breast. Sporting matching alternate logo patches on top of each shoulder, Johansson's number “38” is sewn to the sleeves and verso in tri-layer teal-over-orange-over-white numerals with “Johansson” spelt out across the affixed matching nameplate in single layer white twill letters. Displaying moderate game-wear, a number of board burns and stick marks are present over each sleeve with a couple of the burns resulting in small unrepaired holes near the right cuff. Additional wear is found via fraying to the fabric and pilling on the interior. Of note, a yellow colour stain is observed at the bottom of the reverse "8". Additionally, Islanders equipment manager, Joe McMahon, has signed on the inside behind the team crest in black marker and has added the date “96-97” above though it has mostly faded away. A MeiGray LOA and COR will accompany the piece.
