Sure to keep our lucky winning bidder occupied with hours upon hours of quality reading material that dates to both the later years of the Original Six and early years of the NHL’s expansion era, up for grabs here is this vintage hockey magazine and publication collection of 63 including issues of "Hockey Illustrated", "The Hockey News" and others that date from the 1960s to the 1990s. Starting with the “Hockey Illustrated” section of the collection, 20 issues are present with the earliest being from November 1962 and the latest being from February 1969. Featuring covers that picture names like Plante, Howe, Beliveau, Hull, Keon, Sawchuk and H. Richard among others, the group continues with fourteen (14) issues of “The Hockey News” that date between Dec. 1963 and Dec. 1966 that cover a variety of topics of the era including stories detailing NHL expansion plans circa 1965 and of goalies testing various types of masks. The last significant group of older issues features four (4) copies of “Hockey World” including the first ever issue from May 1966 and seven (7) copies of “Official National Hockey Annual” for the years 1960, 1961, 1962, 1964, 1965, 1968 and 1973. The rest of the collection included a random grouping of magazines of the same era including a Stanley Cup history issue from 1957, a Sports Illustrated from November 14th, 1960 with an artistic rendering of Bobby Hull on the cover and a trio of Hockey Hall of Fame books from 1962, 1970 and 1974. The last of the collection included magazines from the 1990s and early-2000s including memorial issues (in French) about the passing of Maurice Richard and a copy of the first Beckett Hockey price guide with Wayne Gretzky gracing the cover. Condition wise, most of the older issues are in the range of VG to VG-EX condition with some showing heavier wear than others, particularly on some of the issues of “The Hockey News”. Common flaws present include creases, corner bends, toning, light spine, edge and surface wear, pencil marks and small tears. Additionally, most of the older issues avoid the mailing labels, having originally been newsstand copies.
