Two of the great players to ever lace up the skates and grace the ice of the National Hockey League, Ray Bourque and Mark Messier would win a combined total of seven Stanley Cup championships over the course of their respective careers. Offered here is this lot consisting of a 2001 Colorado Avalanche banner signed by Bourque and a 2007 HHOF induction banner of Mark Messier that has been signed by him. Both made of a vinyl construction, the Avalanche banner is double sided and measures approximately 24” x 35” while displaying team and sponsorship logos along with “2001 Stanley Cup Playoffs” and the team slogan of “One Team One Goal” at the top. With two brass gromets at one side, the banner shows light stains and fading along with some fraying at one edge while Bourque has signed over one side with a black marker ink signature that displays without issue. For the Messier banner, a single sided affair that measures approx. 30” x 70” and displays an image of Messier during his days as a member of the Edmonton Oilers going top to bottom. With wooden rods inserted through the top and bottom loops, the banner reads “2007 Inductee – Mark Messier – Player Category” at the top and has been signed by Messier near the bottom with a silver ink signature that displays without issue. Also remaining in good condition with light wear from display appearing, both Steiner and Frozen Pond holograms have been affixed to the bottom right corner of the piece.
