Featuring names both past and present, Upper Deck’s yearly “The Cup” release continues to make collectors wide eyed year after year, having done so since 2005-06, with the cards that get pulled from the coveted high priced tins usually embedded with beautiful memorabilia swatches or decorated with crisp autographs. Offered here, is this collection of 2005-06 and 2006-07 Upper Deck The Cup including Gold RPA’s (/23 to /76 - 9 Cards), RPA’s (/199 - 14 Cards), Rookie Masterpiece Printing Plate’s (1/1 - 5 Cards), Rookie’s (/25 - 3 Cards) plus 41 others inc. patches/signatures. Starting with the gold RPA’s, quite possibly the most sought after cards in each release, that are numbered to the individual players jersey number, examples are present for Milan Jurcina (“35/68”), David Leneveu (“19/30”), Jakub Klepis (“32/38”), Eric Nystrom (x2 -“17/23” and “20/23”), Evgeny Artyukhin (“57/76”), Hannu Toivonen (“26/33”), Alexander Perezhogin (“14/42”) and Andrew Alberts (“33/41”) with all featuring gorgeous patch swatches and fine blue ink on-card autographs of the featured player underneath their respective images. All nine cards remain in the range of EX-MT to NM with some showing some light edge, corner and surface wear along with edge toning. Regular release RPA’s from the same season that are serial numbered to /199 total fourteen (14) and are in the same design format as the gold RPA’s listed above with those included being Braydon Coburn (“006/199”), Kevin Nastiuk (x2 – “001/199” and “190/199”), Brad Richardson (“106/199), Chris Thorburn (“185/199”), Hannu Toivonen (“060/199”), Rene Bourque (x2 – “197/199” and “185/199”), Ryan Craig (x2 - “010/199” and “092/199”), Andrej Meszaros (“155/199”), Eric Nystrom (x2 - “002/199” and “044/199”) and Kyle Quincey (“056/199”). Finishing up the RC category, “1/1” “Rookie Masterpiece” printing plates include the likes of Ryan Hollweg (Black – Error as the plate isn’t him), Wade Skolney (Yellow), Paul Ranger (Cyan), Corey Crawford (Black) and Konstantin Pushkarev (Cyan) white regular rookies include Kevin Dallman (“04/25”), George Parros (“11/25”) and Maxim Lapierre (“13/25”). The last of the 2005-06 offerings include a “Limited Logos” of Vincent Lecavalier (“45/50”), a base patch card of Tomas Vokoun (“02/10”), a “Noble Numbers” of Todd Bertuzzi and Chris Pronger (“01/44”), a “Scripted Numbers” also of Bertuzzi and Pronger (“06/44”), a “Limited Logos” of Frank Mahovlich (Heavily faded autograph – “05/20”) and an “Honourable Numbers” of Alexei Yashin (“58/79”) as well as base cards that are all serial numbered to /249 of Heatley (Gold variation numbered “19/25”), Spezza, Hejuk, Miller, Tanguay, Theodore, Potvin, Fleury, Forsberg (x2), Staal, Sakic, Heatley, Lehtonen, Beliveau, Zetterberg, Howe. Lastly, to round out the collection is a group of cards from 2006-07 The Cup that includes base cards, once again serial numbered to /249 of Marleau (Gold variation numbered “09/25”), Roy, Miller, Smith, MacInnis, Bossy, Fleury, Arbour (x2), Ryder, Forsberg, Mr. Hockey, and Potvin (Gold variation numbered “09/25”) while memorabilia/autograph cards include examples of Tony Esposito (Signature Patches “71/75”), Michael Ryder (Signature Patches “03/75”), Rick Nash (NHL Enshrinements “16/50”), Tomas Vokoun (NHL Enshrinements “27/50”) and Lanny McDonald (Limited Logos “06/50”). Most of the cards remain in the condition vicinity of EX-MT to NM with many better examples while some show closer to EX-MT range due to light examples of edge, surface and corner wear being exhibited as the most common issues along with edge toning.
