Historical Hockey and Sports Memorabilia Auction Spring 2023
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 5/2/2023
Some of the most coveted cards that circulate within the hobby, pre-war examples displaying the imagery of some of hockey’s forefathers are usually near the top of every vintage collectors want list. For those looking to add some pre-war examples to their collection, look no further than this lot up for grabs here that features a quintet of examples. With specimens dating between 1912 and 1933, the group of five (5) is paced by a 1912-13 C57 card of Jack Laviolette that has earned a mark of “AUTHENTIC” from PSA and sports heavy damage through creasing, a missing piece at the top left and staining over both faces. Additionally, an additional “AUTHENTIC” offering is also included, this one via a copy of Sylvio Mantha’s 1923-24 V145-1 RC that is housed in an SGC holder with easily seen evidence of shipping along the left side. Joining the pair of HOFers are two PSA slabs that house the 1933-34 World Wide Gum Ice Kings cards of Johnny Gagnon and Armand Mondou. Both the English only variations while serving as the rookie cards of each player, the Gagnon has earned a mark of EX-MT+ 6.5 while the Mondou shows an EX 5 designation over its label. Lastly, to round out the group, is a copy of Albert Luduc’s 1933-34 Anonymous V129 RC that remains ungraded that is found to be in the approx. grade range of VG-EX to EX in our opinion. All the graded card holders show just minor wear through light scratches and scuffs.
