Historical Hockey and Sports Memorabilia Auction Spring 2023
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 5/2/2023
Having suited up in the uniform of the Montreal Canadiens for a total of 13-years that saw him win a pair of Stanley Cup championships and play on the “Punch Line” with Maurice Richard and Elmer Lach, Toe Blake would take up the place behind the Canadiens bench starting in 1955-56, winning the Stanley Cup every year in his first five seasons and then three more after that. Up for grabs here, is this lot of two cards of Blake from his days of coaching the famed bleu, blanc et rouge that hail from the 1957-58 and 1958-59 Parkhurst sets. Displaying virtually the same image over the fronts of both cards, each cardboard example has been inspected by the graders at PSA who have deemed the 1957-58 offering worthy of a MINT 9 mark while the 1958-59 card has earned a NM-MT 8 designation. Displaying attributes that you would expect high-grade cardboard to have such as sharp corners, smooth edges, good colours, excellent centering and clean surfaces, all are present and accounted for with these. Both housed comfortably in PSA holders, light scratches and scuffs are observed on both worth noting.
