Historical Hockey and Sports Memorabilia Auction Spring 2023
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 5/2/2023
The leadoff card in the 1912-13 hockey release by Imperial Tobacco, dubbed the C57’s, the ghostly back and white image seen over the front of this copy of George Vezina’s sophomore card is the same as what is seen on this iconic and colourful rookie card from the year before. The greatest goaltender in the years of the professional game’s infancy, this copy of Vezina’s cardboard offering has earned a mark of GOOD 2 from the graders at PSA, with an “(MK)” (mark) designation also gracing the label below the grade. The mark that PSA is referencing is easy to see when viewing the front of the card, found in the form of a faint black “p” handwritten above Vezina’s image while additional flaws such as stains and a print line going from left-to-right through George’s head are also observed with lighter wear and staining seen on the reverse as well. Exhibiting additional wear to all four corners as is expected with a card this old, the PSA holder it is housed in remains in excellent condition, showing just a small number of light scratches/scuffs over both sides worth pointing out.
