Inducted into the Hockey Hall of Fame in 2019, Guy Carbonneau was one of the NHL’s premiere defensive forwards throughout the 1980s and 1990s, with the Frank J. Selke Trophy awarded to the Sept-Îles native in 1988, 1989, and 1992. Serving as the captain of the Canadiens captain from 1989-90 through the 1993-94 NHL season, leading them to a Cup in 1993, up for grabs here is this copy of Guy’s rookie card from O-Pee-Chee’s 1983-84 release that has been encapsulated by PSA. Earning a high-grade mark of MINT 9 from the graders after inspection and displaying with all the attributes one would expect of a card display it’s mark including sharp corners, smooth edges, clean surfaces, perfect centering and bold colours. Housed in a PSA holder that shows light scratches/scuffs over each side worth noting, the PSA Population Report shows us that only 25 other examples that have been inspected by the company since its inception out of the 349 that have been submitted have bested the one offered here through the perfect score of GEM MT 10.
