Historical Hockey and Sports Memorabilia Auction Spring 2023
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 5/2/2023
Described in the write up on the back of his first-year cardboard as a “diamond in the rough”, Guy Lapointe would go on to play 14 of his 16 years in the National Hockey League with his hometown Montreal Canadiens, helping them to six (6) Stanley Cup championships in the 1970s. A diamond indeed. Up for grabs here, is this copy of Lapointe’s rookie card from the 1970-71 O-Pee-Chee set. Having been inspected by the graders at PSA and deemed worthy of a NM-MT+ 8.5 designation over its label, the card displays near perfect centering (a tad off right-to-left), beautiful colours, sharp corners, smooth edges and clean surfaces that make this example one to behold and say “wow” about when looking at it. Sporting an older PSA label, the holder has been well cared for over the years with just a small number of light imperfections being observed over each side. When referencing the PSA Population Report, one can see that his copy of Lapointe’s RC is bested by only 49 others that have been submitted (46 MINT 9’s and 3 GEM MT 10’s) out of the 301 that have been examined, ensuring you will be adding a top of the scale example to your vintage collection.
