Historical Hockey and Sports Memorabilia Auction Spring 2023

Nicknamed “The Little Giant”, Aurele Joliat was still going strong in his 12th of 16 seasons with the Canadiens in '33-34 with the diminutive left winger popping in 22 goals to finish tied for third in the NHL, while leading the Habs in scoring. A three-time Stanley Cup champion and a Hockey Hall of Fame inductee in the class of 1947, Joliat is pictured striking a classic “ready” pose over the front of his 1933-34 World Wide Gum Ice Kings V357 card that falls at #3 in the checklist of 72 with the example offered here earning a mark of EX 5 from the graders at PSA after its inspection. An English only back variation, heavy toning is seen over both sides with the image on the front off-center right-to-left while the corners remain quite sharp all the way around despite some wear seen heaviest on the points of the right side. A wonderful pre-war example of one of the game’s best early stars, it is without a doubt that our winning bidder will be pleased with this addition to their vintage collection. Of note, the PSA holder displays a number of small hit mark like scuffs over each side worth noting.
