Winning a Stanley Cup championship with the Montreal Canadiens in 1986, Mike McPhee also took part in the 1989 NHL All-Star Game. The Sydney native served as alternate captain from 1990-92. This Canadiens captain's jersey was worn by McPhee when he most likely replaced injured captain Guy Carbonneau who missed some games during the month of January 1992 (January 13th to January 29th - 4 road games and 3 home games). A worn Maska Ultrafil label is affixed to the collar, with the jersey measuring out to a size 52, with embroidered CCM and NHL logos on the reverse hem. Styled with the most famous team crest in hockey, "35" is sewn to the sleeves and verso in layered tackle twill, with the NHL 75th anniversary crest residing just above the right breast. The dual-clasp fight strap is intact, and we should note evidence of an alternate's "A" where the "C" currently sits and is somewhat detached, along with evidence of a former shorter nameplate. The jersey shows washed out marks to the front and sleeves, with pilling beneath the fight strap and to the interior sleeve.
