Sure to keep our lucky winning bidder occupied for hours on end and hailing from a decade that was dominated by Wayne Gretzky and saw the New York Islanders and Edmonton Oilers win eight of ten Stanley Cups in the decade, offered here is this massive 1970s and 1980s O-Pee-Chee and Topps hockey card Collection of 7500+ that includes complete and partial sets. Starting with the complete assemblies, those consisting of a full checklist include releases from 1981-82, 1982-83 and 1989-90 (x2). Featuring first year cards featuring names like Coffey, Kurri, Savard, Murphy, Moog, Stastny, Anderson, Lowe, Ciccarelli, Fuhr, Francis, Hawerchuk, Sakic, Leetch and Fleury, the condition present include VG, VG/VG-EX, VG-EX/EX and EX with a couple better, particularly the 1989-90 specimens, found around EX-MT to EX-MT/NM after inspection. The 1981-82 set is largely a mid-grade offering with some better and some worse while the 1982-83’s are around EX/EX-MT, once again with some better and some worse. Lastly, the 1989-90 sets are both high-grade as to be expected with a couple of exceptions in each, remaining around EX-MT/Nm range.
Partial sets make up the bulk of the group with examples present from 1980-81 (x2), 1983-84 (x2), 1984-85, 1985-86, 1986-87, 1987-88 and 1988-89 with the incomplete groupings featuring RC’s of names like Oates, Hextall, Vernon, Lemieux, Richer, Damphousse, Robitaille, Vanbiesbrouck, Roy (low-grade), Clark, Turgeon, Shanahan, Nieuwendyk (low-grade), Chelios, Neely, Larmer, Nicholls, Bellows, Lindbergh and Stevens. Most of the RC’s are mid-grade offerings unless otherwise noted. Lastly, to conclude the collection, are mixed card boxes from all the same sets that are made up of mostly common cards and semi-stars with some notable names mixed in such as Lafleur, Potvin, Trottier, Bossy, Kurri, Messier, Bourque and others. Condition throughout the entirety of the collection varies with majority of the cards in a mid-grade or so range of VG-EX/EX, VG/EX, EX and EX-MT with numerous better examples include along with some low-grade specimens as well. Common condition issues observed include creases, corner wear/dings, edge wear, centering issues and surface problems. Overall, a great collection for those looking for starter sets that they can build on to or for dealers looking for inventory.
