Still to this day one of hockey’s fan favourite franchises despite their relocation to Carolina in 1997, the Hartford Whalers got their start as the New England Whalers as a charter member of the World Hockey Association in 1972, winning the inaugural AVCO Cup that same year. Offered here, we present his large collection of New England/Hartford Whalers memorabilia. Including many earlier items, the group is paced by 1972-73 Whalers training camp and regular season media guides that remain in excellent condition, the pairing is joined by other New England era items including an inaugural season supporter’s certificate, a pair of New England Whalers pennants (good condition but having had pinholes poked into it and having been creased, a coffee mug, beer steins (both small and large), seven (7) plastic drinking cups, two (2) stir sticks, a mid-to-late-1970s youth jersey made by Champion that is tagged as a “small” that remains in excellent condition, a jacket patch and decals (x3), ticket stubs from the 1977 WHA All-Star Game and March 31st, 1974 game versus Quebec, a 1975 souvenirs order form, paper weight and a 1975-76 pocket schedule. For the stuff hailing from the team’s NHL era as the Hartford Whalers, included is an ashtray, two (2) shot glasses (different logos on each), two (2) Whalers Hall of Fame medallions, four (4) pocket schedules – 81-82, 83-84, 88-89 and 95-96 and a “91 Club” handkerchief (light stains). Additionally, a dozen pucks ranging from the team’s early days to later years are also present with most being souvenir offerings with facsimile signatures while one is a Binghamton Whalers AHL offering. All showing varying degrees of wear and handling the best biscuit of the bunch is an Art Ross puck from 1975-76 that has a rubber crest on the front and a screen reverse that shows heavy wear. Everything presents in excellent condition with just light handling wear unless otherwise noted.
