Historical Hockey and Sports Memorabilia Auction June 2023
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 6/27/2023
Featuring a 66-card checklist that included players from the Chicago Black Hawks, New York Rangers and Boston Bruins, the 1960-61 Topps hockey release is found to be popular with collectors due to the inclusion of Stan Mikita's desirable rookie card, the presence of fellow Chicago sports hero Bobby Hull, and the intriguing All-Time Greats subset. Offered here, is this complete 1960-61 Topps assembly. Led by a trio of freshly graded PSA slabs that house the aforementioned cards of Mikita and Hull, fellow Black Hawks teammate, Glenn Hall, joins the duo with both Stan and Bobby’s cards having been assessed marks of NM 7 while Hall’s cardboard has earned an EX-MT 6 designation for its effort. An overall uniform high-grade set with just a few exceptions throughout, the key cards are led by EX-MT to NM examples of 7-Shack, 11-Bucyk, 19-Vezina and 59-Morenz (slightly off-center top-to-bottom) and are followed close behind by the likes of 1-Patrick (very slight corner wear), 36-Worsley (top left corner wear), 45-Bathgate (light edge wear and a small notch on the top) and 65-Pilote (light corner wear). With the notables finished out by VG-EX to EX examples of both Eddie Shore (top left corner ding and light wear to the other three corners) and Vic Stasiuk (top left corner ding) while card #27 of Art Ross displays a red mark on its one edge.
