Historical Hockey and Sports Memorabilia Auction Spring 2023
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 5/2/2023
The last hockey card release from the Canadian company Parkhurst, the 1963-64 release remains popular among collectors due to eye appealing designs and a checklist filled with star power. Led by a group of six cards that have been freshly graded by PSA that includes Jean Beliveau, Terry Sawchuk, Jacques Leperriere, John Ferguson, Alex Faulkner and “Mr. Hockey”, Gordie Howe, the first four names listed have all been deemed worthy of NM 7 marks over their labels while the final two follow close behind with very respectable grades of EX-MT 6 for each. Featuring a checklist of 99 total cards, the assembly is largely in the condition range of EX to EX-MT with a few better examples mixed in as well including the examples for 77-Mahovlich and 88-Geoffrion at EX-MT to NM and 89-Beliveau in EX-MT proximity. Key cards found in the commonly observed EX to EX-MT range include 5-Bower, 17-Mahovlich, 33-H. Richard, 29-Geoffrion, 39-Worsley, 50-Delvecchio, 52-Ulman, 65-Bower, 75-Keon, 76-Horton, 82-H. Richard and 98-Worsley. Rounding out the notables is card #16 of Tim Horton in the range of VG-EX to EX condition with a small surface mark/scratch worth noting. For the key cards, the main flaws exhibited include very small corner dings or light discoloration on the reverses with about half of the included cards showing some form of that same discolouration on their backs. Additionally, a second copy of Boom Boom Geoffrion's card #88 is included, falling into the scope of EX condition after inspection. A wonderful last hurrah for the Parkies brand, a wonderful trip down memory lane awaits our lucky winning bidder with these!
