Discovered in packs while the Detroit Red Wings were heading towards a record seventh straight regular season championship and a fourth Stanley Cup title in six years were Parkhurst cards like these with the complete 100-card assembly offered here presenting in a lower grade range of FR to G with a small group of worse off and a small group of better examples being accounted for. Led condition wise by examples of 31-Horton and 41-Howe in the vicinity of VG-EX with a small corner crease at the top left and a stain on the reverse respectively, those found in the VG range include 3-Beliveau (corner crease and off-center), 14-Harvey (light tape residue), 33-Sawchuk, 42-Kelly (crease) and 99-Plante “In Action”. Card #36 of Alex Delvecchio is deemed as being in the scope of G after inspection, showing a crease, as is #’s 65, the key rookie card of Johnny Bower which shows creases and rounded corners and #95, Doug Harvey’s “In Action” card that shows a crease. Getting into the last of the notables, card #92 of Howe “In Action is seen as being in the range of FR to G while 8-Geoffrion, 96-Sawchuk “In Action”, 98-Plante “In Action” and 100-Sawchuk “In Action” are found to be in the vicinity of FR with all showing varying degrees of creases. Lastly, card #7 of Quebec’s prodigal son, Maurice Richard is found in PR condition, showing fading and multiple creases. Overall an excellent chance to break into the world of vintage cards at what is likely to be a reasonable price point.
