Righthanded starter Bryn Smith’s signed 1987 Expos game-worn jersey features the signature powder blue the team wore for road games through the early 1990s. Smith signed in black marker on the right breast, above his red twill No. 28 and beneath a “Go Saints! Good Luck!” notation written in a paler tone of marker. Rawlings label with “46” sizing is affixed to the collar, with a “46 87” size/date swatch and “2 inch extra length” tags placed adjacently on this jersey, which displays evidence that leads us to believe it was recycled to a farm team at some point.
There is evidence of a former nameplate applied over the “B. Smith” plate, which leads us to believe it was recycled to a farm team at some point, although we cannot confirm that a minor league crest ever covered the Expos team crest on the left breast. Additionally, the back numbers exhibit stitching that has let go, a sign of repeated use and washings, with this lending further credence to the jersey being recycled. There is a small team repair on the back of the upper left sleeve on the raglan seam, a few small reddish-brown stains towards the left side of the rear tail and a tiny slice on the right side of the rear tail, and a few light stains on the left front below the team logo and “expos” sewn directly on the jersey.
