The man credited with bringing the “butterfly” style of netminding to the forefront, Patrick Roy remains the only player in history to garner the prestigious Conn Smythe Trophy an impressive three times. Offered here, is this stick used by “Saint Patrick” during the 1997-98 season as a member of the Colorado Avalanche. A KOHO Revolution model with “P. Roy” stamped to the upper shaft, a date code reading “19 Dec 1997” is stamped underneath the name. Sporting its original white tape over the blade and lower paddle and black cloth-over-white on the handle and upper shaft, the stick shows moderate game-use with some puck marks over both sides of the taped section on the blade as well as the paddle and shaft. Post paint transfers are seen on the backside of the upper shaft with chips also observed to the shaft and paddle edges as well. Additionally, Roy has signed the upper paddle with a beautiful gold ink signature that displays well on the dark background with some lightness from age in areas. From Ray Bourque's personal collection, his signed LOA will accompany.
