Historical Hockey and Sports Memorabilia Auction Winter 2023
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 2/28/2023
A favourite amongst antique baseball collectors, and rarely found in such high grade original condition, Ty Cobb is represented by this cast-iron bank thought to depict his likeness, hailing from the 1910s and produced by AC Williams. At 5 ½” in height, the two-piece bank is joined by a single screw over the reverse, just beneath the coin slot. Featuring the most desirable combination of gold wash uniform and cleats along with red cap and socks, silver bat and beige skin tone to the face and hands, the bank came from a collection of two, with this example the extra or double that was never played with and possibly never used. There is just light wear to the paint in spots where the bank has been handled, and no damage whatsoever.
