With a checklist that includes key first year cardboard of Bill Barber, Billy Smith and Larry Robinson, the forever condition sensitive 1973-74 O-Pee-Chee hockey release, with a checklist of 264 cards displays with colourful red or green borders with a good mix of pleasing portrait and action photography that is appreciated by collectors. Offered here, is this collection of approximately 208 cards from the 1973-74 set. In a fairly uniform condition range of EX with some exceptions include worse off examples of #6 Stan Mikita and #189 Tim Horton, both showing damage, the group is highlighted by a copy of Billy Smith’s RC in the scope of EX condition that shows a ding on the right side border. Other notable cards include other EX range examples including 50-Clarke (light corner wear), 72-Lafleur (small bottom left corner ding), 129-Checklist (x2 – both unmarked with one off-center top-to-bottom) and 263-Checklist (unmarked – diamond cut). Included cards worthy of mention that find themselves in the proximity of VG-EX are those of 116-Checklist (x2 – one unmarked with corner wear the other with a few boxes checked off) and 263-Checklist (x3 – all unmarked, one with a right border ding, one with a small crease at the bottom and the other with a small crease at the right side), while lastly, card #17 of Marcel Dionne presents in the scope of VG-EX to EX with a small ding to the bottom left corner. Not without some duplicated found throughout, cards with multiple examples include #’s 139, 152, 162, 170, 172, 175 (x2), 177, 180, 191, 192, 193 (x4), 196, 197, 231, 241 and 259. Stars other than what is listed above include the likes of Yvan Cournoyer, Henri Richard, Richard Martin, Rene Robert, Alex Delvecchio and others. There are no Bobby Orr and Larry Robinson cards included in the collection. Of note, all the red border cards are dark grey backs while the greens borders are about a 50/50 mix of grey and white reverses.
