Historical Hockey and Sports Memorabilia Auction Winter 2023
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 2/28/2023
One of the most desirable names within the hobby even 24-years after his retirement from the National Hockey League, nobody can keep themselves from chasing cards featuring “The Great One” for their collection, especially those containing memorabilia used or worn by the game’s all-time greatest player. Offered here, is this quintet of Gretzky memorabilia card offerings produced and released by Upper Deck between 2006-07 and 2013-14. Led by a 2006-07 SP Game-Used offering that is serial numbered “10/25” along the bottom front edge, Wayne is pictured over the front as a member of the Los Angeles Kings alongside a single swatch of white coloured jersey once worn by the hockey legend. Gretzky finds himself accompanied by Tony Esposito and Joe Thornton on the next card, from 2009-10 SPx that is serial numbered “30/50” and features pieces of individual jersey once worn by all three. The back half of the group starts with a 2013-14 SP Game-Used Authentic Fabrics card, once again with Gretzky in a Kings uniform and sporting a single white swatch piece below while a “65/99” serial number is seen on the front as well. The last two cards, both Team Canada specimens, hail from 2010 UD World of Sports and 2012-13 SP Game-Used respectively, showing the game’s all-time greatest player representing his country and having pieces of national team jersey worn by him, beautiful red coloured swatches, embedded into the front with the latter serial numbered “15/99”. All in excellent condition, the group consistently shows just the lightest touches of wear to the corners and edges over all five of the included cards that will surely make the collection of our lucky winning bidder just a little bit “greater”.
