Retiring after the 1998-99 season in a career that saw him grace the ice for 20-years, set more records than most even knew existed, win four Stanley Cup and countless other awards and represent his home country in international competition, Wayne Gretzky was honoured by Upper Deck with it’s 2000 release of The Master Collection. Paying tribute to his professional career with images over the 18-card set going all the way back to his start in the WHA, the complete collection is presented here awaiting its new home with the lucky winning bidder. Each card is numbered over the right front edge with a print run of only 150 for each card with the ones presented here all falling at number “056/150” except for card #U-14 which is numbered “059/150”. Released with 150 print runs in the United States and 150 in Canada, distinguishable by either the “U” or “C” in the card number on the revese and the stars or maple leaves embossed on the front, extras are included of cards #U-1 (“095/150”), #U-13 (“022/150”), #U-16 (“145/150”) and #U-18 (“044/150) as well as #C-15 (“092/150”), #C-16 (“078/150”) and #C-17 (“092/150”). The best card present, is a jersey card from the Canadian print run, #C-NY1, that is serial numbered “39/50” that has a piece of white jersey swatch previously worn by “The Great One” embedded into the front. All the included cards remain in good to excellent condition, with most exhibiting just light corner and edge wear when inspected with the naked eye.
