The Montreal Canadiens all-time record holder for goals, assists and points, Guy Lafleur notched his 518th career goal - which was also his very last as a Hab, on Oct 25, 1984 vs Buffalo. Occurring at 18:26 of the second period, with Mike McPhee and Guy Carbonneau assisting, the goal tied the game at 2-2, and we offer the very puck used by The Flower to score the noteworthy marker. A Trench model with screened Habs logo to the obverse, the puck shows game use with wear to the logo with no unsightly chips or gouges. Regarding the interesting provenance, our consignor was attending the game as a 10-year old with his stepfather, and was sitting near the end of the Buffalo Sabres bench (2nd from bench). When Lafleur scored his 518th goal, referee Denis Morel picked-up the puck and not realizing the significance, as Lafleur suddenly retired roughly a month later, he proceeded to hand the puck to our consignor. A video of the game does show a young kid sitting by the Sabres' bench. Additionally, a French newspaper page dated March 13th 1985 relates the story of our consignor and how a sportscaster happened by chance to talk with his mother, proceeding to put them in contact with the Montreal Canadiens to see if an agreement could be reached with the team for the return of the puck, which obviously didn't happen. An LOA from the consignor will accompany this historic puck.
