Historical Hockey and Sports Memorabilia Auction Winter 2023
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 2/28/2023
A veteran of 1000+ NHL games, Marc Staal was drafted by the New York Rangers and spent 13 seasons with the Blueshirts before being traded to Detroit in 2020. He is currently with Florida. From his time in Manhattan, we have skates worn by the blueliner during the early-to-mid-2010s, a helmet worn during the 2007-08 season, and a stick used in 2014-15. First, the skates are Bauer Vapor models with Tuuk Light Speed blade holders, with "18" handwritten to each blade holder, and codes affixed to the underside of each boot. Very light use is shown to both the boots and blade holders, with minimal wear to the material and just a few puck marks. Each skate has also been customized, with added material to the inside of the left skate and outside of the right skate - most likely for added protection when turning at an angle to block shots. The helmet is a Bauer model with intact Oakley visor and "18" decals to the forehead and lower reverse along with Rangers team emblems to each side. There is also an NHL decal and "Garden of Dreams" sticker, with a hologram affixed. The helmet shows use with scratches to the surface and on the visor. The stick is a Bauer ONE90 model with "Staal 18" graphics to the upper shaft, with the original white tape to the blade and handle. Light but definite use is shown with wear to the blade tape and marks to the shaft along with blue paint transfer to the handle and shaft. Steiner LOAs will accompany for all three items.
