Historical Hockey and Sports Memorabilia Auction June 2023
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 6/27/2023
Originally selected 12th overall by the Montreal Canadiens at the 2007 NHL Entry Draft, Ryan McDonagh would never suit up for the Canadiens, instead, he was traded to a different red, white and blue franchise in the New York Rangers, where he would play for eight years and serve as captain for three and a half seasons. Offered here, is a photo-matched Rangers captain's jersey worn by McDonagh during Round One and Round Two of the 2017 NHL Playoffs. Made by Reebok, a size “58” tag is affixed to the collar with a Rangers barcode above along with a Steiner Sports hologram, while NHL and Reebok crests reside over the front and reverse necklines respectively. The front is decorated with “Rangers” placed diagonally down the chest of the tie-neck garment in red-over-white drop-shadow tackle twill, with the distinguished captain’s “C” affixed over the left breast. McDonagh’s number “27” is sewn to the sleeves and verso in matching material, with “McDonagh” spelt out across the affixed arching nameplate. The Rangers 90th anniversary crest resides over the right shoulder, while the NHL centennial crest is situated on the upper right sleeve. There is also "Stanley Cup Playoffs Round 1 & 2" screened to the fight strap. A few marks are visible to the garment, with two team repairs to the left sleeve, and one to the right. Getty Image #671675648 (April 22, 2017, Round 1 Game 6) has been matched to threading particularities within the "A" of "Rangers" across the chest including the extended white threading in two spots within the center opening of the "A", and on the bottom right of the left extension of the "A". The image also shows the small white thread bump at the bottom left of the "N" of "Rangers". An LOA from Steiner will accompany.
