Marking his 8th straight All-Star Game/Series appearance in the first 8-years of his National Hockey League career, Wayne Gretzky would captain the Campbell Conference squad at the 1988 edition of the NHL’s mid-season classic, the 39th in league history, that was hosted by the St. Louis Blues. Registering a single point by scoring a goal in the 1st period, up for grabs here is this Wayne Gretzky 1988 NHL All-Star Game Campbell Conference jersey that has been signed by “The Great One” himself. A CCM made air-knit material offering in a white, orange and black colourway, a Maska label displaying a handwritten size “52” designation is affixed to the inner collar while the CCM logo is embroidered into the rear hem. Decorated over the front with a large NHL shield crest that sports embroidered details, the distinguished captain’s “C” is found over the left breast. Decorated over the left and right shoulders respectively with event and league crests respectively, the sleeves and verso have been accented with Wayne’s number “99” in single layer black twill numerals with “Gretzky” spelt out in matching style across the affixed matching nameplate. In excellent condition for its age with just a couple light spots/stains over the front and part of the event patch peeling up, the seldomly seen pro style offering includes on-ice elements such as a fight strap and reinforced elbows. Additionally, Gretzky has signed the second reverse number “9” with a silver ink signature that remains legible despite some fading. A Shawn Chaulk LOA will accompany the piece.
