Detroit’s 1st round pick at 10th overall at the 1991 NHL Entry Draft, Martin Lapointe would go on to play seven total games in 1991-92 with the Motor City club between the regular season and playoffs, registering two points. Up for grabs here, is this Red Wings jersey worn by Lapointe in 1991-92 during his first taste of National Hockey League action. A CCM made garment with Maska and East Side labels affixed to the inner collar along with a size “52” fly tag, the rear hem has had the CCM and NHL logos embroidered into it. Decorated over the front with the famed winged wheel Red Wings crest, the NHL’s 75th anniversary logo patch has been sewn over the right breast. Accented over the sleeves and verso with the number “22”, worn by Lapointe only during the season this jersey hails from as he switched to “20” the next year due to the arrival of Dino Ciccarelli, “Lapointe” is spelt out arched across the upper back in single layer red twill letters. Exhibiting good game-use for a jersey only worn in a small number of games, sweat staining is present near the collar and stick marks are seen over the sleeves and throughout the front with a small hole also found down towards the hem along with an orange-coloured stain. Board burns are also observed over the sleeves while a red board paint transfer is viewed near the bottom of the second “2” on the right sleeve. Additionally, Lapointe has signed the first “2” on the reverse with a black ink signature that displays without issue and had added his new number “20” underneath.
The jersey has been video-matched to game 5 of the Norris Division Semi-Finals vs the Minnesota North Stars to the red board paint transfer seen in the second “2” on the right sleeve.
