The Conn Smythe Trophy winner as the Most Valuable Player of the 2008 Stanley Cup playoffs, Henrik Zetterberg spent his entire 15-season career with the Detroit Red Wings, with numerous appearances made for Sweden at the World Cup of Hockey, World Championships and Winter Olympics. Up for grabs here, is this stick used by “Z” during the 2017-18 season in his 1000th career game which was coincidentally the last game played at Joe Louis Arena and has been photo-matched to his 2nd period goal. A Warrior Alpha QX model with “Zetterberg #40” factory graphics over the upper shaft, the stick retains its original tape job of white cloth-over-black on the handle/knob with a handwritten “40” over the knob in black ink while the blade tape has been removed to facilitate a beautiful silver ink autograph from Zetterberg that displays without issue, with an added inscription reading “Last Game At The Joe 1000th Game” in matching ink alongside it. Originally obtained via famed Detroit sportscaster and writer Mitch Albom’s charity auction, the stick displays handwritten black ink annotations of
“FGJ” over the end with “LG@J” and “4 Goal 10:18 2nd” inscriptions found on the underside of the shaft. An additional notation of “1000” is penned over the Warrior hologram sticker also on the underside of the shaft. Painted black near the lower shaft and heel, the stick shows light game-use through a number of marks/abrasions to the shaft, lower shaft and heel. Regarding the aforementioned photo-match, the stick has matched with a numerical image that shows the black mark on the backside of the tape on the handle. A copy of the image will be included with the stick.
