Historical Hockey and Sports Memorabilia Auction Spring 2023
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 5/3/2023
Sporting a checklist that included 330-cards, the 1989-90 O-Pee-Chee hockey release is paced by the two key rookie cards of Joe Sakic and Brian Leetch and are able to be pulled from the fresh packs contained within this freshly sealed BBCE brick that contains 48 packs housing 6 cards each. Showing fairly extensive fading and surface wear to the lid that also includes creases, the perforated die-cut area above the image of Al MacInnis is partially popped while the original (cut) scotch tape is seen over the front edge. Showing additional surface wear to the sides, the edges and corners remain in excellent condition and show just light wear worth mentioning except for on the right side which shows a heavy section of creasing and wear at the perforation line near the front and extends towards the middle. The box bottom cards of Lemieux, Sandstrom, Ridley and Skriko are all in good condition with the BBCE label reading “Unopened Wax Box” and hologram having been applied to the cellophane overtop, covering most of the imagery. Additionally, a partial box with 34 wax packs is also included from the same year but wasn't inspected by BBCE as incomplete. Showing less surface wear to the top lid but more to the box bottom cards of Kurri, Neely, Yzerman and Larmer, the corners and edges also show light-to-moderate wear worth noting as well with the die cut area fully popped and a sticker reading “1989/90 HKY OPC (Missing 14 packs)” affixed to the top left corner. A bounty of options await this duo’s new owner upon arrival!
