Historical Hockey and Sports Memorabilia Auction Spring 2023
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 5/2/2023
Issued by Rogers Peet Company, a clothing store out of New York and Pennsylvania, the extremely rare multi-sport set is made up of 48 stamps/cards that measure 1 5/8” x 2 ½” and were printed on thin paper stock with only four hockey examples found within the checklist, all being from New York teams, either the Rangers or Americans. Up for grabs here, is this group of four (4) 1929-30 Rogers Peet stamps/cards including hockey examples of HOFers Lionel Conacher and Billy Burch. For the Conacher, which falls at #10 in the checklist, light wear is observed to the corners as is a small stain near the right edge while this example surviving in the vicinity of EX condition. The Burch card/stamp, found near the end of the checklist at #42, is off-centered right-to-left with light wear to the corners and a long diagonal fold line that is present from the top left down to the bottom right with the condition around the range of VG/VG-EX. The other two examples included, those of #6 Sabin Carr and #30 Peter De Paolo, both have light corner wear and the same diagonal fold line as the Burch though in a much lighter sense with the condition of each of these seemingly around the scope of VG-EX based on our observations.
