Historical Hockey and Sports Memorabilia Auction Winter 2023

Two fan favourite goalies of the early-2000s with the Minnesota Wild and San Jose Sharks respectively, Manny Fernandez and Evgeni Nabokov combined for a total of 496 wins over their respective NHL careers. From our consignor, who worked at Bauer in their pro goaltending department, we offer this pair of Bauer gloves, one made for Fernandez and one made for Nabokov, that were worn in practice by the two netminders. In Minnesota’s green, red and white and San Jose’s teal, black, white and grey, Fernandez’s glove is a Reactor 5 model mitt with “Fernandez” embroidered over the back of the wrist. Featuring crude sewing along the outside due to a side trap that was deemed illegal by the NHL having been cut off the side, Manny has added tape to one of the leather ends on the outside as well. The Nabokov glove is a Supreme Pro model that is a copy of the Vaughn T-5500 he was using at the time this one was made. Sporting “Nabokov” embroidered over the outside thumb, the glove was used in practice only and returned to Bauer as it wasn't up to Nabokov's standards. Both gloves show light use having just been worn as practice gloves with puck marks seen throughout the entirety of each piece.
