Drafted by the New York Rangers in 1991, Alex Kovalev won a Stanley Cup with the team in 1994, and after numerous seasons in Pittsburgh, returned to the Blueshirts in 2002-03. This Rangers alternate captain's jersey was worn by Kovalev during the 2003-04 NHL preseason. A label with “58” sizing sits affixed to the collar, with embroidered NHL and Koho crests gracing the bottom hem and back necklines respectively. Styled with “Rangers” across the chest in layered drop-shadow tackle twill, “27” is sewn to the sleeves and verso in matching material, with "Kovalev" heat pressed to the nameplate (a trait of preseason Rangers jerseys). The fight strap has also been cut away - common on Kovalev gamers. Sporting light game-use with a few burn marks to each sleeve, there is also a slit near the left cuff. A MeiGray patch resides on the inside hem, and according to the company's population report, the jersey is a "Blue Preseason GI" specimen (this is obviously an error, as the jersey shows game-use and the accompanying LOA confirms this).
