Hailing from the season directly after he captured the first Stanley Cup of his career and gave us one of the most iconic hockey photographs of all-time, offered here is this stick used by Bobby Orr in the 1970-71 season. A Victoriaville Pro model with “4 B.Orr” and “Fiberglass Patented 1960 #591454 Made in Canada” stamped to the upper and lower shaft, the “Mailhot & Freres Inc. Victoriaville, Que” stamp on the each side of the shaft along with the partially intact yellow and black accent stripping near the bottom help date the stick to the 1970-71 campaign as that was the last year for the “Mailhot & Freres Inc.'' stamp and the first year for the team coloured accent stripes. Retaining Bobby’s original tape job of ribbed white-over-black around the handle/knob and iconic single wrap of black over the blade, Orr has signed the upper shaft in black marker ink that displays well with a signature and annotation reading “To Roger Fortin From Quebec City, Best Wishes, Bobby Orr”. Remaining solid and crack free from Orr’s peak season in which he won both the Hart Memorial and Norris Trophies as well as register a career high 139 points, the stick shows light but easily seen game-wear via marks/abrasions over the shaft, heel and blade with red goalpost paint transfer also exhibited on the blade’s bottom edge.
