Historical Hockey and Sports Memorabilia Auction Winter 2023
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 2/28/2023
The American counterpart to O-Pee-Chee’s release, both 1979-80 hockey sets retain Wayne Gretzky’s iconic rookie card falling at #18 in their respective checklists, with the Topps example found here in this complete 264 card set having been deemed worthy of an EX-MT 6 mark from the graders at PSA. Accompanied by the other 263 cards in the set with the condition of the entire group consistently remaining in the scope of EX-MT/MT throughout. Of the more important cards in the set, those of Dryden, Howe, Hull and Bossy appear in the range of EX-MT+ with wax stains affecting the front of Dryden and Bossy while Ken, Bobby and Mike are also show some centering issues. Both checklists remain unmarked and are in the vicinity of EX-MT to EX-MT/NM with 237-Checklist 133-264 off-center right-to-left. Additionally, all the team checklist cards remain unmarked and appear in the same condition as the rest of the group. All in all, a splendid Gretz rookie card (in an excellent condition PSA holder that shows only lght scratches/scuffs over each side) and the supporting cast should satisfy upon arrival.
