Historical Hockey and Sports Memorabilia Auction Spring 2023

A classic set that is high up on everybody’s want list in the hockey card hobby, O-Pee-Chee’s 1971-72 set is offered here with the assembly made up largely of cards in the EX-MT to NM condition range in our opinion with some worse and some better scattered throughout. Headlined by the all-important rookie cards of Ken Dryden and Guy Lafleur, the Dryden displays with EX-MT vicinity characteristics but is hampered by a surface indentation mark at the “N” in Canadiens and a number of small black marks over the front which are not printing defects. The Lafleur presents with EX-MT to NM attributes but has light corner wear at the bottom right on the reverse and a small print defect at the top left corner. For the other key cards in the set, those seen as being in the scope of EX-MT to NM include 50-Hull (wax stain on reverse), 100-Orr (80-20 centering), 114-Clarke, 245-Orr Trophy, 251-Orr All-Star, 262-Howe (90-10 centering) and 263-Beliveau (90-10 centering). Other notables include card #133, the rookie card of Marcel Dionne, in the vicinity of VG due to a light crease on the back and elastic marks on the sides as well as card #261, the Bobby Hull All-Star offering, seen as in the scope of EX to EX-MT with printer bleed on the top border. The two checklist cards, #111 and #264 respectively, are both in the range of EX-MT to NM condition and remain unmarked. A wonderful trip down memory lane awaits our lucky winning bidder!
