Historical Hockey and Sports Memorabilia Auction Winter 2023
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 3/1/2023
A veteran of 15 NHL seasons, Don Lever was selected 3rd overall by Vancouver in 1972, and spent his first eight seasons with the club before additional time with Atlanta/Calgary, Colorado/New Jersey and Buffalo. Lever also scored the first ever goal for New Jersey, and went on to coaching with the Sabres after his playing days. This original design photo-matched Canucks jersey was worn by the South Porcupine native during the mid-1970s. Desirable with the "stick" team crest - the first style employed by the club, Rawlings labeling with "50" sizing is affixed to the collar, with "9" in single white twill sewn to the sleeves and verso. The garter-style fight strap is intact, and we should note that there is no evidence of a former nameplate, and no evidence that it was recycled for the Canucks Alumni. Game wear includes a few puck and stick marks to the team crest and over the front band, with additional marks to the sleeves and light pilling to the interior. There is also a few team repairs to the left sleeve. Getty Image #79470494 has been matched to the long diagonal black mark through the team crest and to the black marks in the lower left corner area of the team crest. An LOA from Classic Auctions will accompany.
